Test Rig Facility

From the very beginning, ICE has envisioned owning a state-of-the-art Test Rig Facility, designed both to support internal R&D activities and to carry out official performance tests, witnessed directly by Clients and End Users.

Located in Cremosano (CR) – Italy, the facility has grown into one of the most advanced of its kind in Europe, comprising ten test furnaces and ancillaries such as air preheating system, boilers and fuel skids to simulate every fuel gas composition. These allow testing virtually any burner configuration, operational mode, and fuel type—gaseous or liquid—with capacities ranging from few Kilowatts up to over 15 MW.

The latest test furnaces are designed to accommodate different burner geometries and firing modes (single or multiple), with a wide range of burners operating parameters and performances that can be measured and recorded, such as:

  • Flame length, width, diameter and shape (via visual observation or CO probing);
  • Emissions (NOx, CO);
  • Temperature and flue gas/draft profile in combustion chamber;
  • Flue gas and O₂ content;
  • Noise level;
  • Flame stability at different draft and excess air conditions;
  • Heat flux at various distance from burners;
  • Any burner operating parameter such as air side pressure drop, fuel pressure and temperature, etc.

In addition to the above, during burner testing ICE investigates and explores burners stability across the entire range of operating parameters, defining in such way a safe and reliable burner operating window.
